A  fundamental DECISION THAT MUST BE MADE?

The Scripture tells us that after hearing his doctrine, (on the Eucharist), many of the followers of Jesus said, ‘This is intolerable language. How could anyone accept it… After this, many of his disciples left him and stopped going with him. Then Jesus said to the Twelve, ‘What about you, do you want to go away too? Simon Peter answered, ‘Lord, who shall we go to? You have the message of eternal life, and we believe, we know that you are the Holy One of God’ (Cf. Jn 6:60-68). Here is a question that its answer is fundamental to our name as Christians or not. Already in the Old Testament, we come across the same situation. Joshua said to all the people: ‘If you will not serve the Lord, choose today whom you wish to serve…As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord’ (Josh 24:1-2. 15-18).

Beloved People of God, the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. We all have a fundamental decision to make, a choice to accept or to reject it. Like Joshua in the Old Testament, and like Peter, in this chapter of St. John’s gospel passage, we are all being invited by the Lord, to affirm our firm belief, our unshakable faith in the Eucharist. There is no room for indecision. To stay a disciple or to walk away in unbelief are the only available options.

May God help us with wisdom to make a choice that is informed by faith. Amen.

My 23rd priestly anniversary: Deep APPRECIATION

Kindly accept my deep appreciation for another show of solidarity, a manifestation of love and sure support that I witnessed last Sunday on the 23rd anniversary of my ordination to the Catholic priesthood.

It was a joy to see many, joyfully and willingly, identifying with me on what was meant to be a gentle reminder to me of the Lord’s amazing grace and his infinite mercies on me for the past 23 years in his vineyard.

Once more, I thank you. May God bless you all in ways and times, best known to him.
