JOYFUL MESSENGERS OF HOPE

The resurrection of Jesus drives fear away, ushers in a courageous joy, an admirable boldness that can lighten the heart and make our feet swift as we spread the good news that ‘HE IS RISEN’ that ‘HE LIVES’. It is not just that the Lord lives out there, it is more that He lives in us and through us. This is true because, ‘when we were baptised in Christ Jesus, we were baptised in his death; in other words, when we were baptised we went into the tomb with him and joined him in death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the Father’s glory, we too might live a new life. If in union with Christ, we have imitated his death, we shall also imitate him in his resurrection…’ (cf Rm 6:3-11)

Beloved people of God, the Risen Lord makes all of us messengers of hope, who are humble and grateful. We ought to express our willingness in joyfully setting out to spread the good news of the resurrection far and near. The Lord expects wholeheartedness in whatever we can do or give, big or little. As he sends the women to simply, ‘…go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee, they will see me there’, so does he instruct us to go and tell our nearest and dearest where to see him. This joyful Easter morning and always, let us rise and be about this urgent and important message.
