Relationship with the most Holy Trinity

In his letter to the Romans, St. Paul tells us that, ‘…we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we also obtain access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God…because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us’ (cf. Rm 5:1-5). Our Blessed Lord also speaks of the Spirit of truth – the Holy Spirit, who will guide us into all the truth…who will speak whatever he hears and will declare to us the things which are to come. ‘he will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare to you. All the Father has is mine; there I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you’ (cf. Jn 16:12-15).

Beloved people of God, the Most Holy Trinity remains a wondrous mystery neither to be demystified nor unravelled. Little wonder, St. Paul speaks twice of faith within that short passage, referring to our relationship with this truth. No doubt, many passages of the Scripture speak of the Holy Trinity. With faith that seeks understanding, we pray for God’s wisdom so that we can learn to have a healthy relationship with the Holy Trinity.

We reverently adore the Most Holy Trinity as we pray: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, the God who is and who was and who is to come. May our faith help to guide us into this relationship as we live in hope which we know ‘…does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts…’ (Rm 5:5). Therefore, Oh Most Holy Trinity, in professing the true faith, may we acknowledge the Trinity of eternal glory and adore your Unity, powerful in majesty. Amen.
