The deeds of the Lord ought to be remembered. They are many and worthy of praise. ‘Christ Jesus, though…God… emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross…’(cf. Phil 2:6-11). We remember, as in the book of Psalms, that though they their hearts were not steadfast towards him; they were not faithful to his covenant. Yet he who is full of compassion forgave their sin and spared them. So often he held back his anger and did not stir up his rage’ (Ps 78(77):1ff). Moreover, we must never forget that ‘God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life…’(Jn 3:13-17). These are some of the deeds of the Lord.
Beloved people of God, ‘at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord, to the glory of God the Father. We merit the grace of the Lord’s name and deeds that bring redemption by constantly keeping in mind that He underwent the Cross to save the human race. He accepted the sacrifice of crucifixion for our redemption.
We joyfully pray, every so often, ‘we adore you, O Christ, and we praise you, because by your Cross you have redeemed the world’. We then gratefully live out the mystery of this Holy Cross that we have known while on earth. May we never join those who become impatient, ungrateful and speak against God, religion and the Church. However if a serpent bit anyone, (if the ancient enemy overcomes anyone through temptation and sin), he should look at the bronze serpent and live. This is to say, we go back to the foot of cross of our Salvation Fr. Ted
