Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the penitential season of Lent in preparation for the celebration of Easter. Masses on Ash Wednesday will be at St Austin’s at 12noon (English) and 7.30pm (Traditional Latin) and at St Anne’s at 10am.

Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence on which we are bound to abstain from meat and to have only one full meal.

During the whole of Lent, we are called to undertake works of prayer, penance and charity with greater resolution and fervour.

There are some books on sale at the back of the Church and on the repository table which will help you with some spiritual reading for Lent. We will also be ordering some more books especially for children.
